CoXist Studio | Collaborative Space

Built as a temporary collaborative space in the heart of the Honolulu Kakaʻako development by Kamehameha Schools, the CoXist Studio renovated a former automotive apholstery shop in a former industrial area. Utilizing donated and reclaimed materials, the gallery created a modern-industrial aesthetic for the hosting of events by artists, designers, performers and other industries that represent the Kakaʻako transition. The gallery is outfitted with projectors throughout with the ability to create a video wall and expand the perceptible space of the gallery into the imaginations of the videographers.

The project was completed over the span of 6 weeks by an undergratuate student team from the University of Hawaiʻi School of Architecture under the supervision of a licensed architect. The project involved numerous community outreach events and collaboration with the main financier Kamehameha Schools.
