Dianshan Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the municipality of Shanghai. Developers interested in revitalizing the site of a former culture park into a first-class international sailing regatta championship site. Complete with two 50-storey towers, the site will host a competition village, shopping district, boat house community and complete marina with clubhouse, grandstands and the largest freshwater marina built in China.

As a study, the client requested the design of a unique observation tower to rise 125m above the lake. Placed at the end of the pier, the tower strickes the pose of a prow figurehead rising into the sky. The light tubular steel structure seemingly elevates the oberservation deck like a light beaconing towards the water.
