Winner of the 2012 Night Market Parklet Competition hosted by Kamehameha Schools, the design for the public space feeatures four key idels that aid in its success; History, Usability, Modularity and Constructability. Funded at a cost under $1000, the parklet in incorporated into the space of two street parking spaces to increase the pedestrian usable space along the various storefronts.

Built in seven 'sleds' the arrangment of space within the parklet may be rearranged to fit a number of scenarios. Planters and greenery installed on the parklet provide relief from the industiral hard surfaces that dominate the current neighborhood. Meant as a gathering space, the parklet encourages people to look inwards and engage in the actions within. A key feature of the design is the window through time that the planter provides by highlighting the transition of the Kakaʻako ladscape through time, including its breif history as a refuse center.
